The Power of Leverage

If you are smart enough and work hard enough, you will eventually figure it out.

However, with the right network of people around you, you would save yourself so much time and effort.

I spent months designing a financial system for a project because I wanted to make my life easier. In passing, a much senior fellow saw it, got intrigued when he studied it and asked how I got it. When I told him I designed it, in his fascination, he said,

“Wow. How in the world did you come about this? For someone who is not an auditor, this is impressive.”

He asked how long it took me to finetune to this level. When I told him, he pitifully said,

“If you had talked to any good accountant about this, they would have given you a standard template that is even better than this.”

I reinvented the wheel when there is already a free template online which took decades of work by very smart professionals.

There is hard work and there is smart work; smart work which comes from leveraging tools and people.
