Shining Light on Our System of Memorization
“Knowledge is a skyscraper. You can take a shortcut with a fragile foundation of memorization, or build slowly upon a steel frame of understanding."

This Bolt guy picked me up some minutes ago and from the part I board the cab we started chatting about life in general. Then I found out he also schooled in Ilorin and we may have even met in GCE-preparatory classes if I hadn't attempted mine in SS1. We remembered with fondness the chemistry and mathematics teachers at the tutorial school.
Then he bought a bottle of Pepsi and as he opened it, the air molecules trapped inside the sealed container rushed out making violent noises.
He muttered rhetorically under his breath, "What even causes this noise?"
I didn't know when I said, "But you did Physics. Didn't you read about Boyle's law?"
Immediately I muttered the words, I bursted out in laughter.
It occurred to me that I underrated our system of memorization.
